Pinocchio Live Action
Pinocchio is a 1940 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Italian children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It was the second animated feature film produced by Disney, made after the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), and was released to theatres by RKO Radio Pictures on February 23, 1940. The plot of the movie revolves around an old wood-carver named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio. The puppet is brought to life by a fairy, who informs him that he can become a real boy if he proves himself to be “brave, truthful and unselfish”.
Walt Disney had long desired to produce a feature-length animated film but had been prevented from doing so because of his exclusive contract with Hollywood Pictures – where he worked until 1937 as supervising producer. In 1938 he finally accepted an offer from RKO Radio Pictures’ David Hand to establish his own animation studio; however unlike Hollywood’s studios which were fine art oriented with artists working in isolation with little communication between them; Walt wanted his team to work together in one building so they could communicate their ideas freely without having them lost in translation or lost altogether due to busy schedules preventing people from getting together at meetings (which happened often!). This setup allowed for better collaboration between departments such as storyboards/conceptualization versus voice acting/specific character performances – something never done before!
The movie has been remade twice: first time by Disney itself in 1993 titled “Return To Neverland”; the second time by Warner Bros Animation titled “Pinnochio: A Tale Of Families.”
