One important aspect of making your content accessible is by including subtitles in your Youtube videos. Not only does this improve the viewing experience for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, but it can also increase your viewership. However, Youtube does not display closed captions by default. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of forcing subtitles to appear on your Youtube videos. Please note that this guide is intended for Youtube creators and can only be applied to videos that you own.

Before we begin, make sure that you have already uploaded your video and your subtitles to YouTube. If you haven’t yet created subtitles for your video, you can use our Subtitle Generator to easily create them. Follow these step-by-step instructions to force subtitles to appear on your YouTube videos and make your content more accessible to all viewers.
Login to your YouTube account, click any video you want to force enable subtitles and add yt:cc=on in the tags.
